The cone is just a cone with 1mm walls, designed to throw into a slicing program to support things that need a lil extra support. It is especially important for providing a nice, solid base for "tips" on models that point down towards the bed with nothing to support it; often automatic supports for those parts are so skinny they collapse before the piece can join up with the rest above it.

You can scale it vertically to make it taller or shorter. You can use multiple cones. You can tilt the cone at an angle. You can use it with other supports and then block the upper stuff you don't need. You can do anything with a cone.
