Costume Commissions

This page is for clients who would like to commission a ready-to-wear full cosplay, a partial costume, or finished props.

While we spend most of our time creating files and kits for props, our team members have had the pleasure of making hundreds of full costumes over the years for cosplayers, models, film, and promotional use.

We’re pleased to now offer full costume commissions handmade at our Toronto studio.

Cosplay Commission Process

Fill out the Form

Step 1

Fill out the form below with as much detail as possible. This will help us quote you quickly and accurately.

This form is for commissioning finished costumes, partial costume pieces, and finished props.

Quote & Timeline

Step 2

We'll get back to you within a week or two with a quote and timeline. Please be clear about your deadlines and note that we ship from Canada.

Payment

Step 3

We'll send you an invoice. You have the option to pay in full upfront, or put down a deposit on a payment plan. Terms will be discussed via email.

Measurements & Info

Step 4

We will have you fill out a measurement form and provide photos. If you're local or willing to travel, we'll have you come by to take measurements in our Toronto studio.

Mockup & Fitting

Step 5

We will ship you a mockup for you to try on at home. We'll then guide you through a virtual fitting via Discord. If you're local or willing to travel, we can do this in person!

Costume Construction

Step 6

We get to work on your final costume, piece, or prop!

During this time we'll send you periodic updates when appropriate and reach out with any questions.

Final Photos

Step 7

We'll take photos of the finished project and send them your way to make sure everything is to your liking! Final adjustments will happen here.

Packing & Shipping

Step 8

Your final shipping invoice will be sent. Once paid, we'll send your order to you via courier. We always ship with tracking and require your signature for delivery.

How we Work

The Dangerous Ladies team has decades of experience both as cosplayers and as industry professionals. Our team members have made their own cosplays and worked for bespoke tailoring houses, dance companies, and for television and film. Our team’s work has appeared on the floor at E3, PAX and eSports events representing video game companies, on live shows like Critical Role, on prestige TV shows like Apple’s “Murderbot”, and on masquerade stages around the world.

As long-time cosplayers ourselves, we know what cosplayers dream of. We’re proud to make costumes that feel “real”, whether you’re stepping onto the ballroom floor for the first time, or fighting your way through a zombie apocalypse. We design with your end use in mind –– need to be able to do a cartwheel? Peel off a layer and still have it look right underneath? Dive into a pool? Dress yourself with minimal help? Need accommodations for comfort or safety? Whatever you plan to do with your costume, we can make it real.

We operate a fully equipped studio with industrial sewing machines, 3D printers, a laser cutter, and more. Our production partners help us print custom fabrics, and we are well versed in stunt armour, specialty rigging, and translating designs only ever intended for digital and animation to reality.

How we Price

For finished props, pricing is generally a single quote, though depending on project, we can quote for optional features, such as collapsibility, lights, and custom casting. Larger props will include a travel case for shipping and storage.

For full or partial costume, we create a costume “menu”, breaking down the costume piece-by-piece and pricing parts individually, including variants for different material choices and approaches. This way you can pick and choose what parts and options you’d like.

Dangerous Ladies is proudly Canadian, but we operate in USD for our international clients.🍁

Canadian customers can be quoted and invoiced in CAD to avoid exchange rates, but will be charged HST.

Cosplay Commission FAQ

Timelines depend on the complexity of the costume, how far we have to ship it, and how quickly invoices are paid in full.

We always welcome payment plans and will walk you through the process!

Please note that finished props usually require at least 4 weeks working time. Full costumes require at least 4 months, sometimes more depending on schedule and complexity. These estimates do not include shipping time.

Payment plans on finished props/full costumes must be paid in full 4 weeks before shipping date unless otherwise noted.
We require an initial non-refundable deposit of at least 20% in order to secure your slot. This does not mean we will begin work immediately, as we prioritize orders that are paid in full
You may only have one payment plan open with us at one time. If you’d like to place additional orders you must provide payment in full, or settle up your existing plan.
If you wish to cancel your payment plan, we refund whatever hasn't already been allotted to labour and materials thus far. Your deposit remains non-refundable.
We have the right to refuse or cancel payment plans; while we try to avoid cancelling whenever possible, if circumstances arise that make us unable to complete your commission, we will give you as much advance notice as possible and a full refund, including deposit.
Invoices must be paid off within 1 full calendar year (12 months), unless otherwise discussed, or they will be considered abandoned projects. Abandoned projects will not be refunded.

Costume and prop repairs will be assessed as individual cases. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions!

You may be charged tax on your order in accordance to your country, province, or state's laws.

If you're living in the US, you may need to pay customs on your order as we ship from Canada.

Customers from the EU and/or other parts of Europe may be subject to VAT and/or customs fees.

Customers anywhere else in the world may have to pay customs or duties.

Dangerous Ladies is not responsible for any customs, VAT, or any other fees you may incur as a result of ordering from us. Customers who refuse to pay duties on delivery will result in abandoned packages. Refunds will not be given. We do not and will not falsify the value of goods/packages in order to avoid customs fees.

Although we'd like to say yes to everything, we do not accept commissions for:

EVA Foam Pieces
Wigs
Worbla Pieces
Silicone Ears and Prosthetics
Contact Lenses
Bespoke Shoes (modifying existing shoes and/or shoe covers are welcome on a case-by-case basis)
Anything related to Harry Potter and/or the Wizarding World franchise.

Currently we cannot ship any electronic components to the USA, though we can rig props for adding your own lightning and electronics.
