Dangerous Ladies' 3D models for Thancred's Shadowbringers accessories, breastplate, thigh armour, knee and elbow pads, and shinguards.
Model by Jennifer Rezny (@quicksparrows)
.stl format.
Accessories
Should fit on just about any printer, and most pieces are flat backed and thus very easy to print, but at a whopping 148 pieces (56 unique ones and 92 duplicates) so it's not for the faint of heart!
Please print size tests for scaling before printing your good ones. You may want to scale everything individually for preference –– you can probably print strategically to get an idea of how big different pieces are. If printing FDM, the best course of action may to be print just the first few layers so you get a "footprint" you can hold up and compare to your costume and whatnot.
These are some rough sizes:
- Chest belt: 1.5"
- Shoulder belts: 1.5"
- Waist belt: 2"
Some individual notes:
- The back pouch (brown in pics) is separate from the silver pieces around it; it's made so you can upholster it and attach the silver pieces overtop, so it has some extra buffer space. You should be able to make a fabric lid for it too.
- All bright blue parts print separately; you can print them clear and put lights behind them (there's space for this!) or you can just paint them a fluorescent blue.
- You can print extra wrist chain and belt chain pieces if you need longer, or cut back if you want shorter.
- The bands for the gauntlets print flat but can be heat formed to curve around. Use a hair dryer on hot or a heat gun on low and slowly heat it up (both sides!) and curve as desired. Print with thick walls to avoid the infill showing, and go slow so it curves instead of bends at a right angle. This only works with FDM prints, resin prints can't be heat formed.
- The joint on the right belt strap has a slit in the back so you can gently bend it open and loop around the other two pieces. I suggest printing it on its side (like a halo) with some supports; should come out pretty clean.
Breastplate
Pre-sliced for printing in four pieces on a 220x220x250mm bed, but includes a whole version and test/scaling versions as well. Measures about 17" from collar to bottom edge, which may seem quite short, but please keep in mind that Thancred's breastplate ends at about his navel; quite the style choice, but that's Mr. Waters for you. The rest at the bottom seems to be his shirt/fabric.
The breastplate is backless, so you only have to fit the front. If you're a bit narrower or wider than our model, you can probably use a heat gun/hair dryer to heat the prints and bend them out or in, but this is a tricky process and you should go slow.
I suggest test printing the "test piece" first with junk settings to get an idea of fit so you can make scaling tweaks. I've included a "supported" version for those of you whose printers throw fits trying to print tall super-thin things without knowing them over!
Thigh Armour
Prints in several pieces to help with fit. You can also skip the back pieces if you want to use fabric or leather to make it easier to fit. Fits comfortably on a 200x200x200 mm printer.
By default, it's made for a 23" thigh. You should test fit first before printing your finals!
Knee and Elbow Pads
Should fit just about any printer. I suggest doing test prints first for sizing!
Shinguards
The shin armour is 235mm tall so it needs a printer on the taller end, but if you print it at an angle it can fit as short as 200mm without scaling.
