The staff uses the following dowel segments for assembly:
- 40mm of 3/16” (for six short spokes)
- 95mm of 3/16” (for six long spokes)
- 65mm of 1” (for small wheel)
- 60 mm of 1” (for big wheel)
- 120mm of 3/16” (for first arm spike)
- 160mm of 1/2” (for second arm towards lantern)
- 300mm of 3/8” (for third arm)
- 845mm of 1” Schedule 40 PVC (for main handle)
- 300mm of 1” clear acrylic rod (for neck; can be longer if desired, but it has to be 225mm at minimum to fit into the PVC handle.)
I do suggest bringing the rod/dowel with you to the hardware store to get the PVC pipe because different pipes have different wall sizes. If you're not super familiar with PVC pipe sizing, just grab one of the handle pieces, find your acrylic rod, and bring it to the hardware store. Schedule 40 is super common but it's handy to check before you buy.
Also: do PRACTICE assembly without glue first! There are a lot of pieces in this project and you'll want to be familiar with how it goes together before you start permanently attaching anything :)
Glue, paints and tools not included. Please allow 1-2 weeks for production, as everything is made to order! Finished kits may take at least 4 weeks depending on how busy we are.
