You can also switch the dowel out for a 1\" ID PVC pipe by printing the file at 107% scale, but then your printer may need to be slightly taller!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis file includes versions where the crystal is separate from the head, and versions where the gems aren't attached to the body so you can print\/cast them separately. The standard version is my personal favourite cut but needs a 300mm tall printer to print if you want the seamless crystal; you can always use the Separate version's split crystal for shorter printers, though, you'll just have a seam.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNEW June 27th 2025: I've added a collapsible version. This version is made to screw apart. There is a slot down the middle for a 3\/8\" or 8mm dowel for strength, but you may also choose to leave it open to run electronics down to the bottom to make the gem light up. As with the tail, I suggest printing the tip with really thick walls anyway to protect it from being poked into things and snapping.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHandle:\u003cbr\u003e62” of 1” dowel. If you want to put a break in it where the middle part of the handle is, where the wire starts, then you can do 22” (bottom half) and 30” (top half.)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWire:\u003cbr\u003eThe red wire can be made with 1\/4\" aquarium tubing, or similar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you want to use a 3\/4” PVC pipe instead, print everything at 103% scale. I suggest printing ONE piece first and taking it with you to the hardware store to test the fit; different PVC is made with different wall sizes and is measured by its inner diameter. (Hence a Schedule 40 3\/4” PVC pipe having an outer diameter of just a hair over an inch.) Schedule 40, Schedule 80 and Class 200 PVC pipes should all have an outer diameter of 26.67mm but if your printer is not super fine tuned you may want to print at 104% or higher to give yourself a tiny bit of wiggle room.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e-------\u003cbr\u003e72\" VERSION\u003cbr\u003eThis slimmer, longer (but still smaller) version assembles on a 3\/4\" rod. I suggest aluminum for strength, as a wooden dowel of this diameter may bend. It is cut 49.5\" long.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt uses a 5mm OD aquarium tubing for the cord. You should be able to make a fabric lid for it too.\u003cbr\u003e- All bright blue parts print separately; you can print them clear and put lights behind them (there's space for this!) or you can just paint them a fluorescent blue.\u003cbr\u003e- You can print extra wrist chain and belt chain pieces if you need longer, or cut back if you want shorter.\u003cbr\u003e- The bands for the gauntlets print flat but can be heat formed to curve around. Use a hair dryer on hot or a heat gun on low and slowly heat it up (both sides!) and curve as desired. Print with thick walls to avoid the infill showing, and go slow so it curves instead of bends at a right angle. This only works with FDM prints, resin prints can't be heat formed.\u003cbr\u003e- The joint on the right belt strap has a slit in the back so you can gently bend it open and loop around the other two pieces. I suggest printing it on its side (like a halo) with some supports; should come out pretty clean.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBreastplate\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePre-sliced for printing in four pieces on a 220x220x250mm bed, but includes a whole version and test\/scaling versions as well. Measures about 17\" from collar to bottom edge, which may seem quite short, but please keep in mind that Thancred's breastplate ends at about his navel; quite the style choice, but that's Mr. Waters for you. The rest at the bottom seems to be his shirt\/fabric.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe breastplate is backless, so you only have to fit the front. If you're a bit narrower or wider than our model, you can probably use a heat gun\/hair dryer to heat the prints and bend them out or in, but this is a tricky process and you should go slow. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eI suggest test printing the \"test piece\" first with junk settings to get an idea of fit so you can make scaling tweaks.
